Covered electrodes can absorb moisture, depending on their coating and grain composition and on the ambient atmosphere.<\/p>

The necessity of redrying these welding electrodes prior to welding depends on the type of covering flux as well as on the yield strength and the plate thickness of the steel to be welded. As the stress increases, so too does the risk of hydrogen- included cracking.<\/p>

Basic-covered electrodes of the fluoride-basic type, which are used predominantly for welding higher-strength steels, should generally be redried. A redrying time of two hours at 250\u00b0C is generally sufficient for basic-covered
electrodes.<\/p>

Cellulose-covered electrodes require a definite moisture level to give optimum performance of their welding properties. We therefore strongly advise that these types of covered electrodes should not be subjected to redrying, as this will adversely affect their operation.<\/p>

Recommendations for storage & Redrying of MAGNARC ELECTRODES<\/strong><\/p>

To obtain best results redry and hold electrodes for minimum one hour as per table shown below. Storage however shall be done at 30 + 10\u00b0C (50% max. R.H.)<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Note:<\/strong> Re-dried electrodes must be held in portable drying ovens during working on sites, Remaining electrodes at the end of the working day must be returned to the redrying oven.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
